2023-06-16 More Lake Argyle

A down day today. Karen watched the sun rise over the range from the kayak while sipping tea and counting crocodiles. It sounded lovely, but not enough to entice me out.

A few vehicle maintenance tasks today ahead of our next trek into the Bungle Bungles. We spent a couple of hours this afternoon at the Argyle Homestead Museum where we gained an understanding of the pastoral development of the area and the families that made it happen. The same family was instrumental in developing the plan for the dam to allow irrigation of the Ord River in the dry season. A really interesting afternoon.

We chilled later this afternoon to round out a rather relaxing day (these sorts of days don’t happen very often, so we need to enjoy them). Tomorrow we take off again, restock at Kununurra and head into the Bungle Bungles. Internet may not be available for a few days so will update again when I have the opportunity.

  1. After visiting the Durack homestead I bought and read Kings in Grass Castles! A very interesting read about this pioneering family.
    I don’t remember an infinity pool ????

    1. Great recommendation. I’ll see if I can download it while we have reception 🙂 . The pool may be relatively new? Apparently the resort is getting a big birthday with another 4 pools to go in!
