2023-06-21 Boab Quarry
An early start for everyone this morning – all from different locations. We all updated the group chat as we passed through locations with cellular reception. Today was the first cloudy day we have had since leaving home almost 8 weeks ago
We came across Jase and Sue at Halls Creek while we were getting fuel, so travelled the next 300km with them to Fitzroy Crossing. It was cool to pass over the recently completed temporary river crossing and see the progress on the permanent bridge after the devastating floods earlier this year.

We said goodbye again to the others as they are going exploring further before we meet up again in Broome. Bob and I headed the 40 or so km to the Boab Quarry to position ourselves for our Tunnel Creek trip tomorrow. The Boabs on the drive in were so lovely – I think I have a new favourite tree!

500km of travel today – a few spots of rain (and I mean a few) and just when we could see the end of the road a washout impeded progress. A precision 3 point turn later and we are set up for the night. Happily Karen and Kieran have shown up this afternoon (they were planning an early morning arrival tomorrow) so we are enjoying Bob’s Turkish garlic and sweet chilli bread before dinner. Life is good!
