Gorges and falls…repeat.

Karen kayaked for sunrise this morning.  I was too obsessed with finishing my tapestry that I bought in Broome.

We were off and hiking (or should I say swimming) by 9.  The start of the walk to Manning Falls requires a 50m swim across a waterhole.  With dry bags in tow we embraced it – let me say the water temp isn’t like Bitter Springs.  I don’t do cold water EVER at home, but things are requiring me to reassess here.

After a moderately strenuous 2.5km hike we found ourselves at the gorge/falls.  So lovely. We positioned ourselves in the shade on some rocks where no one else was and watched the world go by – not much world went by 🙂 .

Is it a work day?

I’m sure we are getting the benefit of dry season rains as the falls were just pumping!  I put the drone up just to see what was up top.

After lunch Karen and Kieran rock scrambled to the top of the falls.  I could have just shown them the drone photos…

A leisurely walk back later in the afternoon.  The boys were ahead of the girls (who were contemplating crossword clues while wandering).  The girls only got lost once 🙂 .

To finish the afternoon, Kieran fished (with many bites but no success), while the girls checked photos and Bob seriously considered the back of his eyelids.

Tomorrow we plan to cross the Barnett River and hope that it has gone down further since we inspected yesterday.
