2023-08-16 Barcaldine (by Bob)
A short 100km day today moving to Barcaldine after some tourist activities in Longreach.
Kerri and I went to the Qantas museum to do the tour of the aircraft that we missed out on in 2021. It was an interesting tour of airliners from the 1940s to today.
Karen and Kieran went to the Stockman’s hall of fame for the extended tour that included live shows and really enjoyed it.
We travelled independently to Barcaldine, and we both stopped to revisit the Wellshot Hotel and machinery mile in Ilfracombe that we visited in 2021.
We spent the afternoon in Barcaldine, and visited the Tree of Knowledge Memorial which is the location of the start of the Australian Labour movement.
The day rounded out with watching the Matilda’s at a pub in Barcaldine.

OMG I’ve returned to read the blog and the first photo i see is Karen and Kieran sitting at the pub bar … those stools made me grab my glasses! Really funny photo – made me laugh!
