We have finally completed the traverse from West to East! We left Broome on Friday the 7th of July and arrived at Yeppoon today. Such diverse countryside between the two coasts. One observation is that there is waaayy too much traffic in Rockhampton. So many traffic lights and until yesterday in Emerald they were very foreign to us.

It was another 300km drive today. The Scott’s peeled off early this morning with their van and had brekky at the lake where Bob and I visited yesterday. We met up at 830 and continued the travel east. The landscape became less arid and became more coastal. There were a number of locations where it even felt like we could have been in the Hunter Valley (except for the Minions 🙂 ).

We arrived at Rockhampton in time for lunch. We dumped our car and van and unhitched the Scott’s van and headed up to the lookout and boardwalk at Mount Archer.

Then we beelined to our accommodation at Kinka Beach a little south of Yeppoon. We hit relax mode straight away and even set the outdoor kitchen up as we are here for 3 nights. A sunset walk on the beach to finish the day and we are all ready for a good sleep in cooler night temps.

Tomorrow the Scott’s are heading out early riding and running into/at Yeppoon, and we aren’t 🙂 . A Saturday morning relax with a cuppa and the latest crossword overlooking the river is on the agenda for us. Exploring can happen later in the morning.
