2023-08-19 Emu Park

Well, here we are 16 weeks since we left on our trip, and our last 4 weekly update before we are back home in 2 weeks. We have travelled 17,020 km, spent 5 nights in a swag and 79 nights living off our battery system. Even though we are now back in civilisation, demand for sites means we are missing out on connecting to power more often than not. Mintie supplies are back on track, however we have become connoiseurs and there does appear to be a couple of different formulas that are used in the recipe and we aren’t fans of the soft ones. Also can confirm that while crocs are exceedingly comfortable to hike in, the resulting heel cracks are killers…

We had some messages with Jase and Sue last night. There is a chance that we will overlap a night with them at Hervey Bay as we head south and they head back north. Hoping we can make a catch up happen.

This morning Kieran ran the Yeppoon Parkrun while Karen rode her bike into Yeppoon. We met them in town after getting some fresh food at the local markets and headed for a wander around. I decided to hire an e-scooter (have been wanting to all holiday but Bob wouldn’t let me in case I fell off and the trip ended prematurely 😉 ). Karen joined me and I enjoyed the ride a lot more than she did.

We headed off to have a look around Emu Park, which was very nice. I could definitely spend more time in this town. Bob and I enjoyed a picnic lunch here before heading back to the van. I have to say this stopover really does feel like a holiday 🙂 .

This afternoon we all headed off to watch the 3 hours of Oppenheimer at the local cinema. How can the Barbie Movie be doing better at the box office than this? We were back at the van in time for Bob to watch most of the second half of the Matilda’s game.

We have another full day in the region tomorrow before we move on again.
