Today we took a ridiculously long time to go only 220km! We didn’t hurry this morning and were on the road by 9. We made it to Bundaberg around 11am and headed straight to the rum distillery where we went through the museum and booked a tour. The tour came with a few rum samples and despite the various options, I am still not a rum fan. The closest I got to liking it was the salted caramel dessert rum liqueur, but in the end it still tasted like rum to me.

We moved on, and had a very late lunch at Childers before the final leg to Hervey Bay. We are camped at a beachfront caravan park at Torquay. A little more squashed in than we are used to, but it’s pretty cool being able to walk to a cafe and supermarket over the road from where we are staying…..not to mention the amazing sunset vista about 20m from the van 🙂 .

This evening we have had a recon walk around town, with dinner at the vans and a game of Greed for old times sake. Tomorrow we are planning to explore the 16km waterfront precinct on our bikes over the day.
