Wow! I can’t believe we are done! 125 nights on the road.  I’m so glad that it’s all been recorded here as it’s already a blur in my mind.  Although we had our familiar van to wake up inside each day, it sometimes was a surprise to look out the window and see where were we were once the sun came up.

We’ve had some incredible experiences, and have shared them with just the best people.  I can’t even rank the best times that we’ve had.  And the not so great times really do fade away pretty quickly.  18900km later we have all our limbs attached, and the rigs performed exceptionally well.  I have a plethora of midge bite scars to remind me of our time (and that I am still allergic to them) – battle scars 🙂 .

From a quite hideous start to the year for us and the almost certain likelihood that we wouldn’t be joining Karen and Kieran for this trip after so many years of planning, we are so thankful that they were able to rejig their timing to accommodate a delayed departure.  This also meant a surprise 6 week catch up with Jase and Sue that would never have happened otherwise.

Along the way we have learned the exciting news that Karen and Kieran are becoming first time grandparents to twins before Christmas, Bob has been restructured at work to another job and then restructured again to a previous role from last year, and our 12 year old Roxy dog who has had heart problems for the last 3 years is still kicking on and we get to cuddle her again.

Today we have travelled home.  Karen and Kieran are enjoying a family catch up at Chisholm and we have managed a couple of catch ups along the way.  First stop was a quick hello to Mum and Mal near South West Rocks, and then straight home to start the unpack.  The kids (and furry kids) have all come around tonight for a takeaway dinner and catch up, and Sunday we get to see Dad and Lynn as well.

To those of you that have followed along, thanks for joining us!   This is my first time blogging, and while it did occasionally feel like homework going through photos every night after sometimes a very busy day, I’m very glad I put in the effort.  At least I don’t have to sort through 5000+ photos now!

Anyway, thanks for sharing the last 4 months with us.

Until next time.

  1. Thankyou to Kieran, my nephew, for sharing your blog with me .
I have thoroughly enjoyed travelling with you all on your wonderful trip .
For the first 10 weeks of your trip I was also exploring our wonderful country.
We are blessed to have this beautiful country to experience and its interesting how we all see it and transit through it in different ways.
    Thanks from Kieran’s Aunty Pam

    1. I so agree. I can’t encourage people enough to get out there and explore our country. There is something for everyone. I’m glad you got to follow Kieran and Karen’s travels through the blog. Kerri.

  2. WOW what a journey and thank you for allowing us to share it with you. We have thoroughly enjoyed the photos (you are most talented in that department) and the diary to support it. And yes it is worth the effort. We regularly re-read our blog and reminisce with our photos and we are always taken straight back to the journey or experience we have just read about.

Enjoy home life, our thanks again for sharing and take care. Will send you our blog link when we restart next year.

    Cheers CJ

    1. Thanks Charlotte. Looking at making a book from the blog once we’ve finished unpacking. Looking forward to following your resumed travels. Kerri.

  3. Thoroughly enjoyed your blog & so happy (& impressed) you kept it up. Welcome home, looking forward to catching up!!!

    1. Thanks Trish. I am too! There were a few times where I thought it too much effort but Bob would step in and write the blog for me on those days. It worked well. See you in the office tomorrow :).
