2023-05-19 More Kata Tjuta

Last night we all went to the Field of Lights display. Once again we watched the sun set over Uluru while sipping on wine and enjoying canapés. It’s going to be tough to leave this lifestyle! We were treated to a colourful sunset with some wispy clouds providing an alternate sunset view than we had over the last few days.

Once the sun had set we headed down to the field where thousands of lights had been arranged. I really enjoyed the display, but there wasn’t really any relevance to the landscape or indigenous history of the area. Bob was possibly a little more on the money with his explanation of the tour on this occasion. Still an enjoyable night, though.

Today we all did our own thing for the last full day before we move on. We arranged to meet up and head back to Kata Tjuta this afternoon to watch the sunset and cook a sausage sizzle for dinner. Just as at Uluru, the changing colours were amazing. A busload of tourists came along and all left as soon as the sun went down, but missed the best colour of the night! I’ve had another go at a time lapse video to show the colours.

Tomorrow we move on again. We will backtrack a portion of the route we followed in and then head towards Kings Canyon for a few days.
