2023-05-29 Alice Springs
I guess maybe once a month even holidayers need a catch up day. Today was one of those days. Until this afternoon there wasn’t much going on that reminded us that we are on holiday. We have supported the local Alice Springs economy, completed domestic tasks and van maintenance. Once our chores were complete Bob and I went on a 10km bike ride along the Todd River bed.
For the couple of days that we have been here we have been lucky enough to see no evidence of the social difficulties that have been reported in the media. The infrastructure is well developed however there is considerable display of people that are idle and have no real place to be. We have enjoyed being back in civilisation for a period before heading back off grid.
On our way back from the bike ride we stopped at the tavern next to the caravan park for a drink and a pizza. It’s a sign of how little I have to report when I put a food photo up!
Tomorrow we all head to Devils Marbles. Approx 420km from where we are now. Jase and Sue have got the jump on us and are camped about 140km up the road from Alice Springs while Karen and Kieran are 50km south. Looking forward to getting some sunset photos there.
