2023-06-12 a 3 day day
This morning we all headed out around 9 (well 10 minutes later cause Bob forgot to tell me the target time that had been arranged the night before). We headed straight for Tolmer Creek and Falls. This was an opportunity to get the drone out (NT allows drone use in national parks with a permit). We stopped upstream from the main falls (which had some pretty impressive falls on their own) and found some stunning scenery with a natural arch.
I’d like to say that Karen had her arm around me as we appreciated the spectacle in front of us, but I do think it was because she wasn’t interested in the paperwork if I got hyper fixated on the drone flying and forgot where my feet were…
Then down to the lookout to the main falls. A very impressive drop!
Next stop was a 2.7km hike up Greenant Creek to the Tjaetaba Falls. We had lunch here and a swim in the plunge pool overlooking the waterfall (see top photo). Today was not as hot as we’ve had for the last week. Still ridiculously hot climbing in 32 degrees but the reward was worth it. The drone went up again as the falls weren’t able to be viewed front on from the track.
After lunch we headed off to the ‘Lost City’. A few km of decent 4wding and we arrived at the cool rock formations and wandered around. Such diversity in not a lot of area around here.
Lastly, we headed to Florence Falls and Buley Waterhole. We walked to the falls and were blown away with the number of people there swimming! We had a swim and I even swam against the current and managed to beat the waterfall to get under it, but we were keen to get to somewhere less crowded.
We moved 2km up the road and spent the last of the afternoon cascade and plunge pool hopping at Buley waterhole. A thoroughly enjoyable day. We will all sleep well tonight!

You certainly had a big waterfall day! Some amazing shots. You’re going to have trouble culling for the Book(s). Loving the daily blog
Thanks Trish. Some days I’m more into the blog than others. I’ll appreciate having it when we are back home, I’m sure.
I blog all of our trips Kerrie and I have published a few into books. I love having them to refer back to especially our around Australia trip as our kids were only 6,8,10
Hi Leisa, this is my first go at it and I’m still learning. I’m planning to make a book from it as well.
