2023-08-23 Larc Paradise Tour
Today was a very full day! We headed off this morning to the approximately 60km Larc tour of the coastline up to Bustard Point Lighthouse. After a slight hiccough to proceedings we were on our way. We have seen an abundance of birdlife, a turtle, a whale, a stingray, a sea snake, and dolphins all in the ridiculously clear water. The amphibious Larc was a very cool way to get around on both the sand and water crossings.
After morning tea at the base of the hill to the lighthouse we headed up for some great views and information on the history and families of lighthouse keepers. We were shown around by Stuart, a keeper from the 70’s who has painstakingly restored the cottages to their former glory after the lighthouse was de-manned in the mid 80’s.
A quick trip to the lighthouse cemetery with all it’s stories and we were back to the base for some lunch.
Then we headed across the sandbar to the dunes where the more adventurous of us did some dune surfing.
Then it was back into the Larc for the 28km return journey along the coastline. When we were almost back to 1770 we were also treated to a personal aerial display by Emma from Matt Hall Racing as she passed overhead. The rest of the tour group were most impressed!
Tomorrow we move on again for three nights at Hervey Bay. Another place none of us has been before.

Oh this has brought back so many lovely memories for us. Thanks so much for sharing. Have thoroughly enjoyed reading about your adventures and been envious of not being out there again… not long now though before we are off again.
Stay safe…
Glad you have enjoyed. Make sure you give us access to your blog when you head off again. 🙂
