2023-05-05 Change of State
After a very cool night at Broken Hill we packed up for a later than anticipated departure – thanks to Kerri’s bike that decided to respond to the cat head lodged in the tyre overnight, and which required replacement prior to going on the bike rack.
We were soon across the border into South Australia and the roads became long and straight. Much less evidence of roadside animals – even the goats weren’t to be seen. A ‘mob’ of emus was the only real siting for the nearly 300km of travel today.
We passed through the quarantine station and were compliant visitors with no fresh food on board and proceeded to Peterborough where we have pulled up behind the Junction Hotel. Have been on a bike ride to explore the town this afternoon with Bob continuing to make great progress and he was able to join us as we meandered along. We have restocked our fresh food supplies for the next week off grid and are now about to head to the hotel for dinner before a sound and light show we’ve booked at the Heritage Rail Centre tonight. Looking forward to it.
Short blog for today. Tomorrow we move on again for a few nights in the Finders Ranges.

Great railway location with the break in gauge. I have heard the light show is great. Will have to stop in next time we travel to SA and satisfy my inner transport nerd! Enjoy your adventure!
