We were out of the caravan park nice and early this morning. We all met at the welcome sign to town to retake the photo as a three-ship, as Jase and Sue have joined us since we arrived.

The drive out of town was interesting with the landscape littered with Mullock heaps from the Opal mining. That was probably the most interesting part of our almost 500km of travel today…

We crossed the border into the Northen Territory just after lunch and proceeded to eat all our leftover fruit and salad items before entering the state to meet quarantine requirements. There was no quarantine station to enforce the rules, which surprised us when comparing to our entry into South Australia where we had to open our vans and fridges to demonstrate we had no banned food.

Tonight we have stopped at Ghan, which claims to be the ‘Centre of the Centre’. When we look at our location in Google Maps it does seem to be pretty true!

It has been good to stretch our legs after a long travel day. Karen bought some feed and we (well most of us) fed the resident camel and emu before dinner and a campfire.

A shorter travel day tomorrow before we arrive at Uluru, where the pace will slow again for a while. Looking forward to sunset there!
