2024-09-13 Relocation Day
Today was spent travelling. We headed out for one last walk this morning after breakfast and the boys picked up some ‘The North Face’ shorts. Apparently Bob’s clothes are feeling a bit tighter than they were at home…
We piled into our bus and headed back to the airport. Travel is ridiculously slow in the traffic and we all were just glued to the windows watching the sights of daily life in a busy city. We passed by the famous Turtle Tower near our hotel and proceeded across the Red River (which is still in significant flood but receding now).

The flight to Ho Chi Minh City was a little delayed and when we were able to board I found myself feeling like an invisible person… I got a window seat with no window (while Glenn got 2!). I didn’t get my vegetarian option for a meal (so they scrounged up a couple of bread rolls from first class for me) and my entertainment screen was non-responsive. Apart from that, it was a simply delightful flight 🙂 .

We were even treated to an explore around the sky prior to landing. A few circles for those with windows to get a good view of the city from above.

The hotel we are staying at is amazing. We had time for a quick familiarisation then back out to dinner at a beautiful ‘fusion’ restaurant. The fusion is between Western and Vietnamese food and it was so good.
Back for an earlyish evening. The night view from our room is so much different than in Hanoi. It’s difficult to believe we are in the same country. We are overlooking the Rex Hotel which is famous from the Vietnam War where the rooftop bar was utilised by US military officials and war correspondents. There will be much more to share tomorrow as we have a full day of sights and experiences planned.
