Well, we’ve finally spent our first night in a swag! The temps are getting quite low at night now so it’s much more comfortable sleeping. We kept the canvas rolled back and could see the milky way all night. So magical.

We headed out on a quick walk around the campsite before the 1 hour 30km drive to the northern part of the park. We headed out on the Mini Palm Valley Walk. For the first time this trip, Bob and I both found the limits of our knees with the large boulder hopping and had to bail before we made it to the end of the trek. The others said it was worth the walk.

We raced off to the Echidna Chasm afterwards to try to make it there while the sun was directly overhead. A seriously impressive chasm (over 180m high).

Another lookout and then we were all hot and sweaty so decided to head back to camp for a tub wash. A very pleasant afternoon of nibbles and lawn games (I didn’t win either Finska or the Back 9), but we still have plenty of time on this trip to rectify that.

An early night on the cards here. Looking forward to more star gazing from bed.

  1. Gorgeous photos as usual Kerri. Boulder scrambling is hard for me too. Better left to those with long legs ???? !
