Well, we are finally on THE road! We were out of Birdwood Downs by 7 this morning which made for a leisurely trip to Mt Hart. There is a 50km driveway into the campground with about 20 water crossings. Crossing number 2 brought us some grief as we dropped into a large hole with one wheel of the van and ripped the motorised step from it’s bracket. Bob isn’t questioning my purchase of a $6 step at Kmart in Broome anymore…

We continued on and there were no more surprises for us, thank goodness. Kieran videoed us coming through one of the crossings. We were old hat at it by this stage 🙂 .

We were in to Mount Hart in time for lunch. For our afternoon activities, Karen and Kieran rode (we drove, it was over 30 degrees and we are soft) to Annies Creek where there was a large boab wrapped in a strangler fig. Then back to Matthew Gorge with lots of rock hopping (Bob can even do this as fast as me now), and dips in the waterholes along the way.

A very relaxing afternoon. This evening we headed to the bar at the resort, had cocktails and pizza for dinner while listening to live music. I could handle this on repeat for the next 3 weeks 🙂 .
