Today was moving day again.  Karen and Kieran headed out for one last kayak at sunrise on the waterhole while we slept 🙂  .

We topped up our water tanks at the roadhouse on the way out – the line up for water was far worse than for fuel!  Then it was down to the river to see how far it had dropped in a couple of days and head across.

We were disappointed to see that the flood marker was still sitting just below 0.8m, so we all walked the crossing to determine the best line.  The sandy bottom had changed a lot since Thursday and by heading out on the low side of the designated crossing we could keep ourselves quite high on the built up sand bank.  It sort of turned out to be a non-event, thankfully.  Another van barged straight up the centre line while we were there and I am very glad we didn’t try that one. Pretty sure my taped up door vents wouldn’t have survived without letting water in.

We only moved 60km up the road in total today but the 30km driveway was pretty slow going.  We arrived at Mt Elizabeth Station in time for a late lunch.  Then onto our bikes for the 3km ride to swimming waterholes with rapids.  We packed a picnic rug and nibbles and continued our ongoing game of Canasta on the bank after we’d cooled off in the water.

We rode back in time for sunset and then headed to the communal fire pit where we enjoyed some excellent bush poetry.

Tomorrow we are planning to visit the gorge on the property as well as dinner at the station.  We were told the choices were beef, beef or beef.  When I asked about vegetarian options for me I was informed that their cows are vegetarian so I’ll be fine….  Anyway, they can accommodate me so dinner tomorrow night it is.
